Контрафактный алкоголь, как известно, может вызвать не только серьезные проблемы со здоровьем, но и даже смертельный исход. Сейчас обычному человеку, несмотря на все новые и новые степени защиты, поддельные алкогольные напитки без специальной лабораторной экспертизы сложно отличить от настоящих. Поэтому созданием устройства, которое выявляло бы некачественную продукцию, заняты многие ученые со всего света. И, как сообщает редакция издания phys.org, экспертам из Университета Манчестера удалось создать простое, портативное, а главное очень точное устройство для выявления паленого алкоголя.
Портативный детектор определения качества алкогольных напитков получил название SORS. Принцип его действия основан на рамановской спектроскопии. В ходе этого процесса лазерный луч пропускается через исследуемое вещество (а данном случае жидкость), после чего анализируются изменения в частоте излучения, вызванные рассеиванием света в молекулах вещества. Так как одни вещества взаимодействуют с фотонами сильнее других, на основании полученных данных можно построить своего рода «спектральную карту алкогольного напитка».
В ходе исследований разработчики испытали SORS на 150 видах алкоголя, среди которых были разные виды виски, рома, джина и водки. Из полутора сотен образцов 40 были поддельными. Помимо этого, напитки сначала проходили проверку в закупоренном виде, а затем их открывали и добавляли туда немного метанола (который вызывает серьезную интоксикацию, губительно влияет на печень и нервную систему). В итоге SORS смог выявить метанол во всех спиртных напитках, которые, помимо этого, были залиты в бутылки, изготовленные из различного стекла. Также прибор отлично справился с выявлением контрафактной и разбавленной продукции, а также смог отличить разные сорта виски друг от друга.
